I installed SuSE 6.0 a couple of weeks ago, and have been using the 2.0.36 bundled kernel. I finally got some time this weekend and compiled/installed the 2.2.4 kernel. However, now my CD-ROM doesn't work. # mount /mnt/cdrom results in: mount: fs type unknown not supported by kernel
Let me see... If i understand your problem correctly,it sounds similar to one i had. A line in /etc/lilo.conf should fix this. append = "ide1=noautotune" add the above ^ line to your /etc/lilo.conf below the vga = ***** part. also ide1 would become ide0 if your cdrom was on this channel. I have my cdrom as hdd , a slave on the second channel. This fix does work,it may take some tweaking, along with other stuff you`ll run across. You will have to run /sbin/lilo and then reeboot the machine for this to work. -- Keith. -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
