Hi,
I wander about Leap compatibility of these two devices: - HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28nw (T6B80A), or - HP LaserJet Pro M452nw (CF388A).
Is there anyone on this list who can share some user experience?
The first one is multifunctional and I wander very much about scanning part. Never used scanner on network before. Vendor pages are not clear on Linux support, neither on printing nor on scanning side.
I tested recently an "HP LaserJet Pro MFP M278" which I wonder if it is similar to your "MFP M28nw". I googled, and the photo is different. It is smaller, has WiFi but perhaps not ethernet cable. Probably not dual side.
The MFP M278 I tried prints fine in Linux, once I updated hplip from the "OBS: Printing" repo. I did not try to scan on Linux, but I found out that on Windows it scans at 300 dpi only. If you plug an USB stick, it can scan and save on the stick directly, which is a failsafe if finally scan in Linux fails.
The page I'm looking at (<https://intercompras.com/p/multifuncional-hp-laserjet-pro-m28nw-x-dpi-ppm-usb-adf-hojas-145432>) says it copies at 600 x 400 dpi BW, which is better than the 300x300 I tested. Interstingly, the technical paper at hp doesn't list the resolution (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05550216).
I do not find the "HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28nw" at the hp site, though. Maybe it depends on country.
Is it BW, not colour, perhaps?
The second looks like more serious hardware. It's just printer (no MF) and vendor pages suggest that OpenSUSE is supported.
It seems to be this: <https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-color-laserjet-pro-m452-series/7326532/model/7326533> but I can't locate the technical characteristics pdf. The "product information" tab has no specific information brochure :-/
Maybe this one: <https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-color-laserjet-pro-m452-series/7326532/model/7326533/document/c04824430>
Non duplex. Ethernet. No USB port. No WiFi print server (I guess this means no direct print from phone, which is cute). The control panel is not "touch".
I checked on https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Hardware, and found nothing about these devices.
No, look printers on this site:
<http://www.openprinting.org/printers>
<http://www.openprinting.org/printers/manufacturer/HP> The M28 is not listed.
The 452 is considered "paperweight".
<http://www.openprinting.org/printer/HP/HP-Color_LaserJet_Pro_M452dn>
However, there is another site:
<https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/supported_devices/index>
M28nw is not listed, but other variations are.
The M452nw is listed, full support. Scan to PC, no.
Well, that's definitive.
Carlos, thank you very much for your answer. I'll check the links that you pointed to, for the correct name (m280). As I said in another post, m28 was my mistake in typing. Best regards, Radule
