I usually install over the network with just the network boot install CD. You might try this if it is feasible. It worked fine for me a few weeks ago with 10.3 and the same CPU. An alternative solution might be to try and install the minimal system and then install other packages later on (I had to do it few weeks ago installing 10.2 of some CDs and it eventually worked).
