I'm the guy who got frustrated trying to set up a laptop on my LAN after
installing SUSE 10.0 and decided to go back to SuSE 9.3. It turned out <snip>
The SuSE Firewall will cause pings to fail.
Disable it, and then try pinging the HP again. Firewall was disabled early on. I just double-checked. The firewalls are disabled on both hplaptop and linux. No change in pings.
Well, you're probably going to get mad at me on this go-around like you did last time, but you're not giving us much information to work with.
No, I promise I won't get mad at you this time. I apologize for last time. My only excuse is that I was getting really frustrated with 10.0, which turned out to be a hardware problem. As to the information I'm giving you, I'm just answering questions. I just posted a reply to your questions about IP addresses and route -n output.
