Hi. I've just installed suse linux (from a CD that came with PCWorld), and I've seen the KDE has not installed, or, at least, the X doesn't look like they should. And I have no ftp server and no access by telnet. I thought that KDE came with de SuSE distribution, and that ftp and telnet came with any basic installation of linux. Any comment?
Hi, KDE comes with Suse, but it isn't installed as the default X manager just because you install it. Read the installation info for KDE. Fvwm2 is the default, I think. If you want an nice ftp server set up, install the packages wu-ftp, ftpdir, and inetd must be started. Telnet is probably turned off because you are trying to login as root, or inetd isn't going. Suse works great, but not without getting some configuration done. zentara -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
