Hi Wayne; I've put all the permissions like you showed, but it's still a no-go. I'm still getting "connect script failed" errors. In /var/log/messages it says that pppd is starting and then I get the script error. I should add that my ISP uses PAP. That may change things, but right now it's not even getting to the modem, so I don't know if it matters about PAP. BTW, ppp-on/off does work under root, so I know I have something right. In the end what I want to do is to be able under user "hatridge" just run, for example, "getmail", which would make the connection, get my email, download outgoing mail and disconnect. Any ideas?
