Linux Journal December 2nd, 2008 by Justin Ryan
Hi Fred. While I'm glad to see this happen, as someone who has been paid for writing articles, I thought I would point out a few things:
1. Linux Journal is a copyrighted site. IANAL, but I do believe that your post has violated their copyright.
2. Generally, when you post about an article, I would recommend only posting the first and/or second paragraph, and then give the link to the article. Sites generate income through ad revenue, and the writer generally gets paid by how many times the page is viewed - at least that's how I get paid . Please support website authors(like me :-)
The original article is available at:
While I totally agree with you -- support the site and support the authors. Sometimes articles get taken offline and it is nice to have an archive somewhere (there will be plenty of archives of this mailing lists on sites indexed by search engines). But to be honest, I have no idea what Linux Journal's policy is for keeping archived old articles. Local news sites seem to be the worst, sometimes pulling articles after a month. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
