Hi, Yes, both were set to 1, but still I got this kind of message. Anyway, I've decided to upgrade to KDE 2.2.2. For the first login, I watch carefully the xconsole, and, fiuh, nothing displayed about reinserted sound module until I realized that noatun/kde media player could not start. I tried to run directly in konsole, and it complains about missing libsoundserver_idl.so.0. It seems I need help from SuSE-ers again to find out which package it belongs to :-D. I'm sure I had the lib before upgrading, because I can still locate the lib (before I re- updatedb) -> /opt/kde2/lib. TIA. Open the KDE toolbox, click on Sound/Mixer. Set the slide control for probed mixers to 1, and the number of probed devices per mixer to 1.

I've tried to comment out line 5,6,7, but problem remains. The sound, strangely, are perfectly run in KDE.
This has happen since I installed suse (7.2) -- for several times. Anybody know what cause this problem?
