I have tried right clicking on the ICONs and the only option I have for changing them is if I click on a directory. The non-directory ICONs only have "general" and "permissions". The create date of my CD's is 7/11/98 and I am wondereing if I happen to have an older release(just got them on 11/8/98.

When I create icons the desktop I copy one of the gear files out of the templates folder or drag it and select copy. It briefly prompts me to enter executable or other information. I then right click on it and get about 4 tabs of information on the file. One of the tabs includes a little gear icon embedded on the tab. If I click that icon, I get the various icons. I dont know if this is the right way of creating icons on the desktop that correlate to programs; but its the way I do it. Does this resemble the way you did it? I dont know if the way I do it is right; but it appears to work for me. One other question regarding kde. I downloaded some later kde applications like kirc and think I am running into some problem with the Qlib stuff. Do the later applications need the Q 1.41 or whatever? Has anyone successfully compiled kirc with SuSE 5.3? Does upgrading to the later q libs cause any problems? I have noticed some issues regarding desktop stability and responsiveness. Do these later libs mitigate this in any way? -- Michael Perry mperry@basin.com ------------------ - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
