I found from that *community* URL the codecs-kde.ymp one-click and ran it, but Amarok doesn't acknowledge .mp3 as a playable format. Ogg works, Kaffeine plays mpegs, and Youtubes work.
Amarok decided to play mp3s after all, but CDs it won't play. It finds and creates a playlist, but it plays each song about 1/4 second each and finishes. :-( Banshee won't do a CD either, but at least it complains about dbus not working. rpm query shows dbus-1-x11 & dbus-1-qt3 installed. I don't see any obvious clues in /var/log/messages or ~/.xsession-errors. How do I get dbus to work for music CDs in 11.0? Kaffeine won't play a DVD either, claiming maybe no rights, but even doz claims a DVD plugin needs to be purchased to play a DVD. :-p -- "Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation?"
