Does anyone know what PHP-imap extention does? It is a package on the 9.3 disks, but I don't know what it is for, the short description in the rmp only says it is not only from imap. It does not install as a dependancy with squirrelmail and one or the other imap versions (cyrus etc.).
It suppies PHP functions that can be used to write an e-mail client. PHP's web site reports that "the underlying c-client library also supports NNTP, POP3 and local mailbox access methods." You can find more information at http://www.php.net/imap.

Thanks. I had seen that page, but was still unsure what that meant. I thought the extension provided imap, but apparently provides a means to write an imap (or other) mail app. Thanks for clearing this up. -- Jim Flanagan linuxjim at jjfiii.co
