Folks, I seem to have got it working now by following an earlier suggestion of settings: YAST ---> hardware --> Printer Select Other(not Detected) and press Configure Select --> Print Directly to a Network Printer Select --> Direct TCP Port Printing My question now is the port defaults to 9100. I have 3 ports on my print server. How do I access the other two? Thanks, Babu --- babu walad <vyav@yahoo.com> wrote:
Hi,
MY printer used to work under 9.0 but since my upgrade to 9.1 I cannot get anything working.
I have an hp laserjet 1200 connected via an hp print server (printjet 500 with 3 ports).
When I try to use the CUPS web interface at http://localhost:631/admin it asks for a login and password. I never set any. Does anyone know what the defaults are? I did not like my root login/password.
When Yast configures my printer, it detects the print server but after that there is no other operation it does to configure the printer itself.
I looked under the PPD directory and it was empty. I re-installed all the CUPS packages and it is still empty.
Any suggestions where to start?
Thanks,
Babu
