From what you have posted, it looks like there should
be
nothing wrong, and that it should work.....
You might want to try some degenerative cases here.....
1. Just as an absolute test, try the following:
ping 127.0.0.1 -c 5
2. Also check the following file:
/etc/nsswitch.conf
make sure that the following line exists:
"hosts: dns files all"
What you have to make sure is that the word "all" is at then end.
3. *This* is not necssary, but try entering the following:
ifconfig 158.64.69.40 up
