Hi.
When I installed SuSE 8.1 CUPS was the default for printers. I uninstalled CUPS, but now I want to install CUPS again.
The question is what is the correct way to install LPRng, and remove it again, and what is the best way to remove CUPS, and install it again.
TIA.
Well, the obvious way is to use yast. Tell it you want CUPS and it will tell you that this conflicts with other packages and asks you what you are going to do. Take the option of deleting conflicting packages. The alternative is messier and riskier (this may not work) - rpm -U cups-x.y.z.rpm it will say that this causes conflicts. - rpm -e conflicting package conflicting package . . . and then when you have killed the other stuff, repeat the rpm -U cups. It would make sense to run SuSEconfig afterwards. yast is easier. -- opinions personal, facts suspect. http://home.arcor.de/36bit/samba.html
