Hi, Sorry, it was not ubuntu specific. We have tried and trying (k)ubuntu,fc,suse,pclinuxos etc..It was more of KDE specific. Since Novell/SuSE seems to aim for being the best possible desktop distro - I posted it here :) We can access network files via file browser (be it nautilus or Konqueror) but not from within a application (unless its explicitly mounted) In windows its "My Network Places" and its visible in all applications. Be it open or save file. Say for example in Linux I want to do the following : I made a openoffice spead sheet and want to save it to a samba/windows share on some other pc. I have to either save it locally and then move it to the other pc or mount the share. I cannot do a File > Save As > Network > "ACMEPC1" > "Sharename" > Filename. I myself have never done this and find it strange - but that is how all of the employes in the company where I am doing internship are working. They are autocad/word/excel/firefox users and frequently need to share data among different departments.
