The change log for Kong's last two entries is:
Mon 12 Jan 2015 04:00:00 AM PST tittiatcoke@gmail.com - Update to KDE Applications 14.12.1 * KDE Applications 14.12.1 * See https://www.kde.org/announcements/announce-applications-14.12.1.php <<<<<<<< Sun 09 Nov 2014 04:00:00 AM PST tittiatcoke@gmail.com - Update to 4.14.3 * KDE 4.14.3 SC Bugfix Release * See http://www.kde.org/announcements/announce-4.14.3.php
The line I marked with <<<<< indicates a web page that seems to suggest this name change was intentional, even if bizarre. See also the first link in that page which points to https://www.kde.org/announcements/announce-applications-14.12.0.php
These KDE devs must have all moved to Colorado where the weed is cheap and legal because they are getting more and more jolly with the version numbers.
Very large jump in package numbers does seem odd.
I've asked around in KDE circles that I know in person, and on answer I got, I'll not remark: "Well, the original plan for the new version numbers was 2-digit year, dot, 2-digit month, dot, patch number. But some where in 2014 that was ignored or forgotten. Lets look at 2015, and see what happens." For me this looks like the result of a debate at a "aKDEdemy" session that was not published with great fanfare, but I can not say for sure. - Yamaban. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
