[opensuse] 11.3 - On startup, CD/DVD spins continuously, does not mount

When I power on while a disk is in the CD/DVD drive, the disk spins continuously and does not mount. It will spin until I eject it or turn off the system. If I eject and reinsert, then the filesystem on the disk will mount. This is happening on both machines that I have installed 11.3 on. Any ideas?
