how about one that does +R and -R ( can't make a plus/minus sign here.)
Use the "compose" key combo on any xterm/console (it can be redefined).
[shift][ctrl],[+],[-] (release after ",")
Ie, [compose],[+],[-] --> "±R"
Carlos, That's cool !
It looks cool, but I couldn't make it work. I tried various combinations of:
[shift][ctrl],[+],[-] (release after ",")
but I am doing something wrong as it idn't work :(
I also looked for "man compose", no joy.

Have a look at the '/etc/X11/Xmodmap' file, I think the compose key combination is defined there.
Carlos et al, With that clue, I was lead to "man xmodmap" (ie utility for modifying keymaps and pointer button mappings in X) and "man xev" (ie - print contents of X events). However, I would still appreciate it, if someone would explain how the above key sequence is suppose to works. (my Konsole is using "bash", if that makes any difference.)
