I had previously installed build 0.94, and I am wondering if I can just use the rpms to upgrade to 0.95...? I had lots of trouble before configuring Xfree86 (especially w/ sax2 ! ) but I guess I could always cut & paste from my old config file.... Ive tried this with 4.01
i download the suse 6.4 version of xfree4.01 and then the nvidia drivers ( which i compiled from source ) gives me errors saying the modules are newer than another file, doesnt explain which. ( when i run XFree86 )
should i try again by downloading the bog standard Xfree86 4.01 from the xfree86 site ?
Are you using the latest drivers from nvidia? I believe it is version 0.9.5. Prior to that they maintained two versions of the GLX drivers, one for xfree86-4.0 and one for xfree86-4.01. The new drivers are only for 4.01. I have a GeForce 256, and it is working great. What type of card do you have?
even if i try and run an ordinary svga server i get a mass of snow on the screen, ( xfree86 ). Im surprised at this.
Could my card be faulty ?
thanks dids

Ive given up tryign to get linux to run on my system since upgrading my graphics card.
this is a real disappointment as i couldnt wait to see how fast it was going to fly. Someone somewhere desperately needs to sort this out as the mx is a very good and reasonably priced card.
Install XFREE86 4.1 and then install the Linux reference drivers from Nvidia. This has worked successfully for many people. Xfree 3.xx will not work, must use 4.x
