It should compile with kernel-longterm if you only install the amdgpu-dkms package. That said, the driver in the latest kernel should be close to up to date. If you use a supported distribution like Ubuntu in distro, or you can use one of AMDs ROCm docker image, you shouldn't need to bother with the longterm kernel, dkms driver, or ROCm packages on your host tumbleweed system.
