I am using the evergreen repository for 11.4. (i586) For the kernel update to 3.0 I get the following error:
"hdjmod-kmp-desktop-1.28_k2.6.37.1_1.2-1.2.i586 requires ksym(desktop:__kmalloc)=12da5bb2, but this requirement cannot be provided."
This is completely Greek to me. :-) Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks.
This means you have package hdjmod-kmp-desktop which is built for kernel version 2.6.37 and cannot be used with kernel version 3.0. Is package for 3.0 available at all? If not, it will not work in new kernel so you may as well to remove it.
Exactly this. hdjmod-kmp-desktop is not part of official openSUSE 11.4 and therefore we couldn't update that. The first try would probably be to get an updated package from where you got yours but I'm not sure if that'll work out. The next option would be to compile the module locally on your system.
