You could try doing a complete end-around of your domain servers and let SuSE pick up the servers dynamically. I'm running an older version of SuSE, but you should be able to do something comparable to

*) Connect a linux machine directly to your WAN *) Under "Host name and name server configuration" (or whatever it may be called now), select "Update name server list via DHCP.

I do have that option enabled, and tried disabling and manually entering the IPs, but it did not work for me. James W
