BTW the wireless worked fine on the system using Knoppix 7.2.0 so the hardware is OK on that score. If it was the capacitors then why did Knoppix work and why did the original OS XtraPorky work??
You think a simple visual inspection for a problem other machines identical to your model is known to have is not worth making? Caps don't usually fail 100% in one instant. It happens gradually. Maybe the way Knoppix and XP work fell short used as they were of taxing the system to its current breaking point, a breaking point that will continue to grow more easily reached if indeed this is a problem yours has. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
