SuSE10.3, NFSv4 The nfs server is presenting symlinks as-is, the client tries the link locally, ie: kremvax! df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/sda3 14513100876 10722636 14502378240 1% / udev 5128104 144 5127960 1% /dev /dev/sda1 101086 16360 79507 18% /boot /dev/sda2 2323181076 19907944 232095568 1% /home server:/nfs/home 1443586628 82019449 1360566849 3% /mnt kremvax! ls /mnt/builderburgers/symlink-to-a-dir ls: cannot access /users/bilden/a-dir: No such file or directory kremvax! ls -l /nfs/home/builderburgers/symlink-to-a-dir lrwxrwxrwx 1 icanhas burghers 20 1890-11-05 04:27 /mnt/builderburgers/symlink-to-a-dir -> /users/bilden/a-dir Even relative symlinks have the same problem. IIRC, NFSv1 & v2 servers translated symlinks for clients. Mention of symlinks is absent from manpages, info pages, other local docs. Is there no way to get the server to translate symlinks for clients? == jd To err is human, to forgive is Not Company Policy. -- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
