I've been using the latest downloads of Webmin since about SuSE 6.x with no problems, sometimes it's been better than YaST2 for many things and just great for adding perl modules. Right now I have webmin-1.110 up and running here. I built it as an rpm, but I've also just done a ./setup.sh in /root/webmin which is a symlink to webmin-1.110 or whatever version I'm using - this gives you more scope, such as using https://<hostname>:10000/ for ssh access and setting up the user/admin, the rpm assumes root. I would like to know if there is any incompatibility between Webmin and SuSE
Nope. Indeed, it's on the 8.2 DVD so have a look on your 8.1 discs and you might find it! Even if it isn't, it works fine so download and install without fear :-)
