Here's an interesting one. Since we unfortunatly have to ship products on Win31, still, I have a Win31 machine on my desk next to my Linux box. I edit in Linux and store all my source in a directory that's Samba shared. My Win31 machine mounts that directory and compiles as needed.
Twice now, I've edited the file in my Linux box, gone to the dos machine and the changes are not there. Don't see them. If I close the DOS box in windows and open another one, the changes show... who's caching and where might I find the problem or info to lead me in that direction?
I have read about something like this in the samba list (samba@samba.anu.edu.au) within the last two weeks, but do not remember details. They keep archives of the list on the same server. Could be the answer is there.
