But, it isn't exactly time to break out the champagne -- KDE still complains (when I start tuxracer) that my system doesn't have 3d accelleration, but glxgears and glxinfo runs fine -- it is ENTIRELY possible that I haven't installed it correctly [or there are "remnants" of other installation attempts] which is causing a conflict. I can type "shutdown -r now" in the dark :) ]
I think this is more a KDE problem rather than that of the drivers. I have an nVidia card it gives me the same message when using Tux Racer and Chromium. I have not had any problem with the way these games play. I also run quite a few full blown 3D games such as UT, UT2003, Tribes2, etc and have had no problems as well. If you have any sort of games such as these I would run them with the new drivers to see the response. I'm fairly certain that if Tux Racer et al are running that these will too. Either way I still think that if your not having any problems the games rendering and video performance than my assumption would be correct.
