I purchased this week one Samsung ML-4500 Printer because it is advertised as LINUX friendly. BZZZZZZT!! Only if you are running Red Hat.... will it work out of the box with the Samsung script. Before I invest my valuable time, has anyone got theirs running under SuSE 6.3 or later? I'm going into Phoenix early tomorrow and will gladly drop by Fry's Electronics and buy SuSE 7.0 Pro if it'll plug and play with the Samsung ML-4500 printer. I had an Epson 660 running fine but I don't like the ink jet problems associated with printers at 5,500' ASL. The high altitude with low humidity is a problem. Email to Samsung support has gone unanswered all week so wanting help from any one at this time. In Samsung's favor the printer does a nice job under WinDoze 98. I hate dual booting into SuSE 6.4, generating .pdf files, copying to the Win98 disk, rebooting to Win98, and then printing. Kills a lot of time. GS 5.50 does not compile as downloaded from the GNU site, so may look for RPM files at SuSE.com later and see if that will help. But trying to save time by asking for help here.
