Okay, a friend of mine suggested I try out Gnome - KDE has been a little troublesome recently.

Yes, it's called gnome-terminal (Package Name) or 'Terminal' in the Menu
--- I'm not sure gnome-terminal is a good suggestion.
I tried gnome-terminal and it failed to start, vs. konsole which came up without any errors or problems, but gnome-terminal couldn't bring up a simple tty-window:
Error constructing proxy for org.gnome.Terminal: /org/gnome/Terminal/Factory0: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.gnome.Terminal:GDBus.Error: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ExecFailed: Failed to execute program org.gnome.Terminal: Success;
Um... what was that?
Both konsole and gnome-terminal start fine on both my Leap and TW installs. Any modifications re. repos?
FWIW, I see similar but not identical output to Linda:
$ gnome-terminal Error constructing proxy for org.gnome.Terminal:/org/gnome/Terminal/Factory0: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.gnome.Terminal: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ChildExited: Process org.gnome.Terminal exited with status 8
$ gnome-terminal --version GNOME Terminal 3.16.2
YaST says (apologies for any typos - YaST is braindead and won't let me copy the text!):
3.16.2-2.4-x86_64 from vendor openSUSE (insalled)
Cheers, Dave
Hi See https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Terminal/FAQ#Exit_status_8
Well, it's another reason not to use gnome-terminal IMHO. Pity, since I used to use it on all my desktops but gnome gets worse and worse. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
