Hi Piet,
I gues you do not have sata.
I don't have SATA.
and I do asume you have the latest stable bios upgrade (if you don't: do)
No, but this motherboard has been running SuSE 8.0 and 8.2 for almost 3 years without any problems.
try a minimal install with "acpi=off apic vga=normal" what does that do?
I already installed 9.2 and I am actually quite happy with the performance (the speedup, in KDE at least, is actually noticeable which I didn't expect). I tried most combinations of the install options and the problem was with ACPI since every time it would lock up. After I switched to the non-graphical installation I could see I was getting a kernel panic specifically referring to ACPI (in the graphical installation it wouldn't get to the point where you could select to see the kernel messages). When I changed the S1/S3 settings in the BIOS I could boot. I still haven't installed 9.2 on the other machine though, I just checked if the install would go past the point where it would lock up.
Thanks,
Brana
good for you, I changed my sata system to 9.1, and was not able to run a perl program I use so I am back to 9.0 (installing it now) So I guess I'll better wait till the sata problems are over. regards, piet
