One question - do either of you have any problems with your sound card other than the error messages. From what Keith goes on to say about the KDE startup sounds, it seems that at least he's getting sound out of it. My soundcard also seems to be working fine, although I've only tried it with wave and line-in stuff - no CDs or MIDI.

One Answer - NO !!! There are just these anoying fake-error-messages and when I click on an mp3-file it blows your brains outta your scull (caused by the volume). So what in hell is up there ??? As far as I'm concerned I decided to ignore the 'error messages'. I have a PCI 128 card with an Ensonic ES1371 chip. The fake error messages sound like this: Jul 6 19:13:33 linux insmod: insmod: a module named soundcore already exists Jul 6 19:13:33 linux insmod: insmod: insmod char-major-14 failed Jul 6 19:13:33 linux insmod: insmod: a module named gameport already exists Jul 6 19:13:33 linux insmod: insmod: insmod char-major-14 failed Jul 6 19:13:33 linux modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module sound-slot-0 Jul 6 19:13:33 linux modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module sound-service-0-0 Jul 6 19:13:33 linux modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module sound-slot-0 Jul 6 19:13:33 linux modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module sound-service-0-3 So maybe just forget about that ??? I'm not sure, but as long as everything is working, I don't really mind Cheers ... Wolfi ================================== mailto:wolfi_z@web.de
