Hello SuSE, I am kinda new to this so bear with me, hey have to start somewhere. I am trying to debug a X wm, I need to get a ./core file dump of a certain wm when killing (or was killed) while in a wm. I useually use Xnest332 ;) so I can stay alive on my screen, but anyways no matter. The thing is that I need to run somthing like this: gdb blackbox ./core bt and then save whats there into a file format, provided it gives filenames and line numbers I have done su-c (root) set : ulimit -c unlimited and ulimit -c does show unlimited from a 0 before setting.. This should let ./core files be generated.. But if I type on console: gdb blackbox ./core it tells me no such file or directory (everytime) I would like to know why this is not working. I would like to know how to fix it, even if you send me off to read a manual page ;) Or maybe SuSE dumps ./core into a different file name? Well, maybe not as an: ulimit -c, at a boot up time shows my limit to be back down at 0, and I need to have unlimited there. Also I'd like to have ./core dumps from any user not just root. as I debug while on IRC to chat with the writter of the wm ;) Steve Udell Xnest ROCKS ;) hettar@teleport.com -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
