good day all ... here is the system: micron xku/suse5.1/3com905 vortex. i cannot get networking to work even though it looks like it should be. i configure appropriate ipaddr/netmask/gateway during the install. when i cat /proc/net/dev i get appropriate entries for the loopback interface, but where eth0 shold be there is an entry for dummy0 with no statistics available. during boot (and if i try to start networking by hand) these messages get logged: Starting up network device eth0. SIOCSIFADDR: no such device SIOCSIFBRDADDR: no such device SIOCDIFNETMASK: no such device. i must have made a mistake somewhere during the install. could some kind soul tell me how to fix this one? thanks in advance! -- -- michael galloway -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
