Hi Lenz, I investigated the problem deeper. This is what I found. Kodak Picture CD is a multisession CD, software written in session 1, and customer pictures in session 2. I looked at the disk in Windows NT and Solaris 2.7. Under both systems it shows the size of second session only though files from both sessions are accessable (df in Solaris, and drive properties in NT) The same number shows in df under kernel 2.2.14. When disk is mounted under kernel 2.2.16, it shows just session 1 and nothing more. Session 2 actually contains a info.cd file in root dirctory and pictures directory, which is not visible in 2.2.16. I looked at the changes between 2.2.14 and 2.2.16. THe version of ide-cd changed from 4.54 to 4.58, and the changes touched multisession support. I also tried to use ide-scsi driver in 2.2.16, but the result was the same, session 1 only is accessable. I tried to copy CD into a file with the command cp /dev/hdc /tmp/cd-image and then mount the image through a loopback device. What's interesting, both in 2.2.14 and 2.2.16 cp command copied just session 1. Unfortunately, I am not experienced in debugging device drivers. Maybe you guys at SuSE can take a closer look at ide-cd.c? Thanks, Kastus On Tue, 11 Jul 2000, Lenz Grimmer wrote:

I just upgraded my SuSE 6.4 to 2.2.16 kernel from SuSE and bump! Kodak Picture CD which mounted without problems on kernel 2.2.14 lost a couple of directories. I booted back into 2.2.14 kernel, mounted CD, all directories are there. Reboted into 2.2.16, directories are gone.
This is the first report about this. I will forward it to our kernel people...
