This seems to have no impact on optables
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target     prot opt source               destination
Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT)
target     prot opt source               destination
Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target     prot opt source               destination
Is the above the output from "iptables --list -t nat" after you added
the masquerade rule?
