Actually I've yet to run into an issue with spreadsheets. I use them all the time. Most are made in Excel 2000, XP or 2003. I have heard that macros can fuxxor things up with OOo, but I haven't used a macro in a spreadsheet in a long while.
Do they look good? That has often been an issue for me. Sometimes things "technically" convert, but æsthetically leave much to be desired. It would be interesting if someone would conduct a reasonably large-scale test to see how well OO can play with that other product suite.
Well, here's a small-scale test. I think they look fine, particularly with OOo 2.0. I've been only using that version for some time, now. It is - IMO - far and away better looking than 1.3 was. I have these two files. They are both Excel files created by MS Office. On Windows XP under Office XP they look like: http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/suse/ScreenShot183.jpg and http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/suse/ScreenShot184.jpg On my laptop (with lower resolution) under OOo 2.0 they look like: http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/suse/xls_in_oo1.jpg and http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/suse/xls_in_oo.jpg Both files are located in that directory (readable) if you wish to browse. The second link contains macros, which are recognized in OOo but of course do not run (they are heavy with VBS). I'll eventually put these screen shots into an article I'm writing. -- kai ponte www.perfectreign.com linux - genuine windows replacement part
