How about a message board instead? A few hoops could be added to make it a bit more difficult for just anyone to access, but this way we'd get the benefit of a newsgroup w/o so much of the crap that goes with one.
The problem with message boards, especially for those of us who have to pay metered phone charges, is that you have to use them online. With the proper software, you can treat a mailing list as the same as a newsgroup (with the exception that you automatically get all messages.) The disadvantage is that some mailing lists (and/or the participants) do not thread the messages properly which makes it much harder (for those of us with threading mailers) to follow, though the Suse lists are above average in that most messages thread properly. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
