I' m trying to configure Sendmail to work in offline mode (I have a PPP dialup connection) but I' m not so sure about what I' m doing. I' ve found some values in /etc/rc.config. I don' t know if I can modify this file by hand or via Yast. How? SENDMAIL_TYPE="yes" SENDMAIL_SMARTHOST="" What should I set here? My provider' s SMTP server address? SENDMAIL_LOCALHOST="localhost" SENDMAIL_RELAY="" Same question as above: should I set here my provider' s SMTP server address? SENDMAIL_ARGS="-bd -q30m -om" As comment says, I should remove only "-q30m" value, right? SENDMAIL_EXPENSIVE="no" I think I should set this value to "yes" (?). SENDMAIL_NOCANONIFY="no" Description tells to set this "yes" if SENDMAIL_EXPENSIVE is set to "yes". Which value should I put? After I' ve finished editing these values, how can I make them effective? Do I have only to reboot the machine or, before, I have to run "/sbin/SuSEconfig" as comments seem to suggest? To run Sendmail in offline mode, do I need a DNS server up and running on my machine? Thanks for your help. Bye. P.S.: One question that doesn' t matter with Sendmail: I' ve found a nice executable in /usr/sbin called "icmpinfo". Man page says: "Icmpinfo is a tool for looking at the ICMP messages received on the running host. It can be used to detect and record 'bombs'...". I would like to start the executable at boot time (and of course stop it at system shutdown). How can I do this? Thanks again. -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
