I want to install 40 GB Maxtor IDE ATA-66 hard drive on my Linux box. Does somebody know if there any obstacles with Linux installation on this big hard drive?
If your BIOS recognizes the full capacity *and* you use a recent kernel, e.g. 2.2.13 from SuSE Linux 6.3, there should be no problems.
Will Linux see and use full capacity of this drive?
Kernel 2.2.13 from 6.3 or current 2.2.15-pre (don't know about non-SuSE 2.2.14) should be able to handle 40 Gig.
