Fonts

I have recently u/g to 7.1 from 6.4 and u/g kde to 2.1, I have tried using qt experimental to get truetype fonts usable, but all that is happening is the normal fonts available to kde ie. helvetica etc.. disappear and I am left with very small bold face type characters from the M$ web browsing collection. Now if I use the standard qt libraries I lose truetype but gain the original fonts back, any ideas or suggestions welcomed.
