Why is it that everyone uses wvdial to connect to the net? I would think that by now there should be an easier way to Linux ppp working. This is one thing that has really surprised me. Aaron dizzy wrote:

Is it safest to do the recompile through the command line only? I didn't think about this before, but will it make a difference that I compiled through x windows?

If you're using 5.3 ppp is built into the kernel as is firewall and masquerading You have to make sure you have ppp installed with the installion though, check in yast/install upgrade packages that you have it installed. If you'd like an easy way to connect use wvdial as recommended on this list.
See my page for a link to wvdial. That should get you up and running with ppp rob Linux Home page <A HREF="http://www.connix.com/~dizzy73/LBM.htm"><A HREF="http://www.connix.com/~dizzy73/LBM.htm</A">http://www.connix.com/~dizzy73/LBM.htm</A</A>>
