So I am at home using my XP laptop wirelessly over my home network when suddenly everything goes down and none of my 3 computers can get to the net. My router and Modem are all lit up correctly.
A - Can you communicate between the LAN and the router and modem? Try pinging them. They'll have some kind of admin interface - can you access that? B - Can you communicate between machines onthe LAN? I'll risk assuming you are set up something like this: WEB => modem(B/Band) => router => LAN either the modem or router could have lost some config settings, or reset to default. Things to check are that they have their correct IPs (especially the router to begin with.) If the modem assigns the router an 'external' IP by DHCP, make sure the router is set up ask for it. Can you connect a single box directly to the modem to see if you can get through that way?
I rebooted everything, unplugged the router and modem, let it cool out for a few. rebooted, now my SuSe 9.0 Linux doesn't register neither the keyboard nor the mouse. When the system boots up the lights on the keyboard come on but once i make it to the login screen neither the keyboard nor the mouse function.
Are they PS/2? can you try a USB kbd? or test them on another machine?
Where should I begin to look? I have disconnected and reconnected the keyboard and mouse to no avail.
Your help appreciated, and to top it all off I am leaving for the weekend at 4am.
Did anything else power related happen - unset clocks in the house for example? Dylan
Thanks, JP
