I'm running OpenSuse 10.2 on one of my desktops, which also has a dvd writer.
Lately, whenever I burn a data DVD with K3B, the program goes through all the motions as if it's correctly burning and verifying the DVD. Yet when I examine the disk that's been burned, Konqueror tells me the disk I just burned is blank.
My Sony DVD DRive is working just fine, and if I boot to Windows, I can successfully burn a disk with Sonic Record.
I have also tried burning a disk (all DVD-R) with GnomeBaker and I get the same result as with K3b.
Does this mean the problem is with growisofs?
When I look at the K3B site there seem to be many bugs all related to not being able to burn a dvd. Does anyone have a handle on this?

I would personally use K3b to build an ISO image but use wodim/growisofs to burn it, for some reason K3b is not entirely sane in interaction with this new set of tools. DVD-R is the least data friendly of the DVD formats, DVD+R and DVD+RW are more reliable in my experience. DVD-R is really more aimed at multimedia use... Try burning an image with growisofs from the command line and take note any messages (to avoid more coasters, use RW format for the test :-) )... - -- ============================================================================== I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
