Sorry again for the "top" mail format - I have to use one of those webmail things and these do not offer the normal mail formatting. :-( This is one other reason why I want kmail back! Current status: I installed KDE 4.8.3. But kmail still fails miserable: -mailfolders are there but mails are not displayed at all -it crashes when moving mailfolders So kmail 4.8.3 is still unusable. systemsettings > personal information > akonadi Resource Config shows double entries like Personal Contacts and Notes, I guess this comes from the update frmo 4.7.2 to 4.8.3 I deleted these and will try again with a complete new kmail from scratch. ----- Ursprüngliche Message ----- Von: Sven Burmeister <sven.burmeister@gmx.net> An: opensuse@opensuse.org CC: Gesendet: 20:30 Samstag, 2.Juni 2012 Betreff: Re: [opensuse] SuSE 12.1: KMail 4.7.2 unusable Am Samstag, 2. The KDE 4.8.3 stuff is currently downloading. Is there some kind of ISO image which makes it easier to update KDE4 on OpenSuSE 12.1?
No ISO, all you need can be found via google and is part of the wiki: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:KDE_upgrade#Upgrade_to_Latest_Release_from_Upstre...
After reading some tests and postings on the Web I am also thinking about changing to evolution as mail/calendar tool. But afaics it is not so easy to import old emails from kmail to
It is in most cases and certainly if you only used maildir or mbox but did not mix them. All you need to know is where you email is stored. You skip kmail's automatic import and go to systemsettings > personal information > akonadi. There you add maildir etc. resources and point them to the folders with you email. Akonadi will then server that data to the clients. In case you mixed maildir and mbox (and only then) you have to use the kmail- folder resource.
