Deleting ~/.gconf alone got me back to square one. All well thereafter, with the latest packages.
Do you have gnome-control-center on any gnome menu? Do you anything like start-here?
"Start Here" is gone. Gnome control centre is there under Applications/Desktop Preferences, are as all the individual components.
Thanks. I am __almost__ there but there is no "Desktop Preferences" entry under the Applications menu. I have tried to find which RPM is responsible for the menu but no luck. Henry
