no it's not, not for the interface. qt, gtk and ncurse are pretty different, for example yast/software
I know the interface is different, obviously, but the options/features _should_ be the same. I use mostly the ncurses interface, I don't often have reason to use the GUI. With yast/software, can you mention an example of a missing option/feature?
No, they are not. Specially on the software module, which has different features and behavior in QT or GTK modules. The ncurses one is similar to the old qt interface of yesteryear. Just fire up the yast software module in QT mode, make a photo, close it, then fire up the ncurses interface. The entire top level line of menus is missing. In the second line, for "view", there is no "view by repository", for instance, to mention one that I use a lot. Here it is labeled "Filter". If you activate that view, then the secondary filter feature is missing, so you can not search for a particular package in the active repo. I then used the option (with packman selected) to update all listed to newer version (in Actions menu). After long thinking, I did not see what it wanted to update. There is no menu entry I can see to display what will YaST actually do when you "accept" - the "installation summary" view in the QT flavour. Some features are there, but on a different place and functionality, like the equivalent to the version tab in QT. Here it is under the view menu. By the way: there is an update to YaST today, something about using the system Ruby when rvm is installed - or something similar, and I don't remember how to get the information about installed security patches as offered by YOU. This might be the OP issue. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
