Hello Linux folks! I saw in computer store network printer server for $150. It can connect three LPT printers. Are these network printer servers OS dependent? Will a such printer server work with Linux or not?
Only someone actually familiar with the specific servers in question can answer that. Of course, since you haven't told us what brand you're talking about, we don't know if we're familiar with them. I know that HP's JetDirect line includes external models, and (as of about 4 years ago anyway) claims to be willing to be a Unix lpd server - hooking to some Unix box that will hold the print queue. However, at the time I was strictly Netware, and now I'm out of the server support business almost completely, so I can't comment on the quality of the Unix support. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
