So why would it be trying dhcp?
Mystery deepens. I see that even though I have selected to use the traditional method in Yast, there is a NewtorkManager process running, and it is the one trying dhcp. If I set an address by hand, it works for a minute or so - until NetworkManager messes about. I am guessing that on this machine (it will be a server when it grows up) I will never use NetworkManager. How to disable it completely? Yast is obviously not the way...
