There are 2 ways to assign an address with IPv6, SLAAC and DHCPv6. Either will work, provided you have IPv6 up & running on your network. If you know the MAC address, all you have to do is run the command "ip neighbor show". It will show all the devices that have announced their presence with a neighbor advertisement. By looking through the list, you will find the MAC address and associated IP address(es).
