I have descrived, that you can configure your Desktop, like the KDE3 one. Were is the Problem. Do that and leave the new features behind.
OK.. I'll buy that. But there are certain things I like. What I don't understand is how the upgrades from KDE1 to 2 to 3 went so well. basically copy over the old setting and go. None of this plasmoid/widget/whatever the new name BS. I'm sorry, but it looks a lot like Vista. I tried to resize the panel. Never did figure that one out. I don't like it stretched all the way across the bottom of the desktop. That's personal. One person said that I should go out and read up on all the new "features". There's a page somewhere to find all of this. Didn't need that on the other upgrades. There were changes between the others too, but you didn't need a book to figure it out.
But it looks like you do not like new things at all. Looks like you are not willing to accept anything which is not *exactly* KDE3.
I do like them. When they work. The first time I tried KDE4, it didn't work. And it was plainly stated that 4.0 was a work in progress and not really ready for prime time. But I tried it anyway. First impressions are ones that stick. Gave 4.1 a look and although some thing worked a bit better, it still wasn't functional for me. The first install didn't even have the menu icon. What good is that?
So go together with all the others thinking this way and do the support for KDE3 as long as you need it. Because you aren't interested in any new features, this may be possible even for a small team.
When did I say I wasn't interested in new features? I said that it should work. Not be a mishmash of ideas that aren't complete or even close to being complete. Is it pretty? I guess. Does it work for me? No. I imagine it will though one of these days. I'll keep checking.
